Donna and Susan's Singapore Adventure

For the last 10 days we have had the pleasure of hosting my mother and one of her BFFs. This was their first time in Singapore and it gave Ryan and I the opportunity to do some 'touristy' things we had not done yet. We had a blast and miss them already!
Mom and Susan at the Changi Airport in Singapore. Ryan and I showed up at the wrong terminal so they had to wait on us for an hour. Oops.

The Botanical Gardens and the National Orchid Gardens were their first stop on Friday morning!

Friday night we took Mom and Susan down to Clark Quay (pronounced Key) to one of our favorite places. Clark Quay is a great place to people watch and it's located right on the Singapore River.

Saturday, Ryan was Mr. Host while I brought home the bacon (aka worked). He took some great pictures. Here are just a few!

Sunday, we headed down to Chinatown. We visited the Chinatown Heritage Museum, a Buddhist Temple, and did some shopping along the way.

Chinese Lanterns everywhere.

Monday, Mom and Susan took a train ride to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They loved it there. They were able to see some true Asian culture. They came back with some goodies for Ryan and I!

This is Bob. He was their guide in Malaysian Culture Museum.
Mom walking up the trail to the Forest in the City. Yes, there is a forest in the heart of busy city KL!

Wednesday morning we took a Black and Whites tour with Geraldene Lowe. If you live(or visit) in Singapore you HAVE to take one of her tours. She is a walking Encyclopedia of Singapore history. We learned some cool facts and saw some beautiful homes. Black and Whites are Colonial homes built back when Singapore was a British Colony.

Deepavali/Diwali which is known as The Festival of Lights is an important Hindu celebration that was going on the week Mom was here. Little India can get very crowded but we wanted to see the lights so we went anyway!

Thursday morning Mom and Susan took a hippo/duck tour around Singapore.

Friday afternoon we went to Sky Park at the new Marina Bay Sands Resort and Casino. The views are spectacular!

Singapore Flyer

Friday night we took a Champagne flight on the Singapore Flyer(see above picture). The highest point is 165 meters (541 feet) above sea level. A great way to see Singapore at night!

Saturday, we took a ferry ride to Bintan, Indonesia to enjoy the South China Sea!

Saturday night we ate at a Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant at the resort. It was yummy!

Sunday
I could not let Mom and Susan leave with out trying Singapore's signature dish, Chicken Rice. YUM YUM!
